Defining Reuse Today Compared to Yesterday!

Perry County High School Students were asked to participate in an Oral History Project, sponsored by Perry County Waste Reduction and Recycling in conjunction with the Perry County Memories Project.  The purpose was to encourage communication between youth and members of our community who may be several generations older and could offer a historic perspective and lessons on "Defining Reuse-Today compared to Yesterday!"

Learning From Our Elders about Wise Use… An Earth Day Message for Every Day!

Perry County High School Students were asked to participate in an Oral History Project, sponsored by Perry County Waste Reduction and Recycling, in conjunction with the Perry County Memories Project.  The purpose is to encourage communication between youth and members of our community who may be several generations older and could offer a historic perspective on lessons on “Defining Reuse… Today Compared to Yesterday!”  This is the 3rd year for this project, which is growing in popularity!

Twenty-five students participated this year from New Lexington, Crooksville, Miller and Sheridan high schools!

Many thanks to each and every individual who helped make this project possible.  Special thanks to the teachers and other adults who encouraged these young people to pursue this project and take time to sit and listen to an elder person in their life… and take heed of their message. Extra special thanks goes to the civic groups and organizations who donated funds for the scholarships! Scholarships compliments of:  Tunnel Hill Partners, Elks, Eagles, J City (+ Sons, Riders, AUX), New Lex, Somerset (+Jeryl Tompkins), Thornville and Corning American Legions.  Your support of this insightful learning project is greatly appreciated!

Again, please consider what each of us does in our daily habit DOES make a difference!

“You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you; decide what kind of difference you want to make.”  ~Jane Goodall
