Reference Resources
Reference service is available to patrons in person, by telephone (740/342-4194), or by
e-mail
(Reference@pcdl.org). Features of the department include a collection of general print reference materials, including telephone books for Ohio cities, directories, and encyclopedias. Additionally patrons can utilize computers for word processing.
Computer Workstation/Internet terminals are available at no charge on a first come, first serve basis. A variety of reference databases and resources are available through
OPLIN
(the Ohio Public Library Information Network). Materials not available at the library can be obtained through interlibrary loan.

A small collection of local and Ohio history materials can be found in the Reference Department. The Library also houses the Perry County Genealogical Society Collection and a permanent display of Bulgarian books and artifacts from the
The MacGahan American-Bulgarian Foundation of New
Lexington.

All staff who provide reference service for the patrons of the Perry County District Library shall provide quick, accurate and unbiased assistance at all times. The staff shall endeavor to meet the informational and recreational needs of patrons whether in
person, by phone or mail, or by electronic means using all available
resources. The staff shall provide reference service under the policies of the library including all freedom of access statements adopted by the
Ohio Library Council
and the
American Library Association
and the Board of Trustees of the Perry County District Library.
