Family Art Night: Barn Quilt Painting

September 22 | 6PM-7PM
New Lexington Library
*Registration is REQUIRED*

Families will work collaboratively to paint an 18" × 18" barn quilt square. Each family will create their design, choosing from traditional quilt block patterns, contemporary designs, or geometric compositions. The finished painted barn quilt square will be taken home to display outside at their barn or home.

The project connects with the library’s America 250 programming by exploring the history and tradition of painted quilt squares in Ohio and how this form of rural art has become a recognizable part of communities throughout the state and beyond. It will also give families an opportunity to create something together that connects art, family, and Ohio history.

Maximum participants: 12 families, with each family painting one barn quilt square. Registration is required. Please contact Melissa Marolt (mmarolt@pcdl.org or 740.342.4194,ext 119) to register.

This program is funded by an ArtRise grant through the Ohio Arts Council.
